Volleyball Manitoba has positions available for any coaches who are looking for a valuable professional development opportunity this summer.
From July 6-9th Volleyball Manitoba will be training athletes from throughout the Province born in 2003 and 2004 in Winnipeg. The 2017 Team Manitoba Girls Select and boys Future Select program will be a 4 day training camp where athletes and coaches from across the Province can participate. The format will be a full day training camp for motivated athletes from around the province. Athletes will focus on developing all around volleyball skills and progress to more advanced skills and game concepts. An introduction to beach volleyball and how the two games’ skills and tactics are transferable will also be provided. The camp will conclude with tournament play on the final day.
This program will introduce athletes to a full time training environment and will include introductions to elements of mental training, strength and conditioning, injury prevention, recovery and nutrition and more.
Under the direction of boys Head Coach Arnd Ludwig – former Head Coach of Team Canada Women and girls Head Coach Jeroen Trommel – former Dutch National Team player and Olympian, each coach will build his or her knowledge and understanding of the game. Selected coaches will be responsible for running drills with their assigned groups, under the direction of the lead coach and will have the opportunity to collaborate with other coaches to lead a skill or tactical session. Participation as a coach in this program will also be eligible for (3) NCCP continuing education credits.
Coaches interested in participating in this program must meet the Volleyball Canada Year 1 Coaching Certification requirements for athletes of this age, have completed the required background screening and hold current Respect in Sport certification. Coaches should possess past experience coaching either school or club volleyball at this age as a head or assistant coach. Coaches residing outside of Winnipeg are eligible to receive support for travel costs and will be provided with shared accommodations during their time in Winnipeg. Coaches will also receive Team Manitoba Apparel.
